It’s granola timeeee! That’s right ladies and gentleman, I have created the yummiest, nuttiest, homemade granola recipe that will leave your house smelling absolutely divine.
Every single time I go to the shop and pick up a bag of granola, in most granolas there are huge amounts of sugar added into them. Personally I don’t like sweet granola, I like it nutty. I also love chunks of granola with a crunch. This recipe creates all of those things in one.

In this recipe, I used organic rolled oats and wheat flakes, but you can use any oats you have lying around. I managed to grab my oats from a local shop that sells unpackaged goods contributing to less plastic waste, which I love! If you can find one near your house, go and support them. These small businesses are great as they are is trying to make a positive difference to our environment.
Granola is one of the best breakfast accessories! You can add it to your smoothie bowls, porridge or simply serve with milk. It’s also great to create apple rings, with a spread of peanut butter and a sprinkle of granola on top, delish!
Ok, let’s get down to it.

Ingredients
- 300g Oats (I used 200g oats and 100g wheat flakes)
- 100g Mixed nuts
- Drizzle maple syrup
- Half a banana (you need a full one for the recipe)
Date syrup
- 3-4 Medjool dates (pitted)
- 1 tbsp peanut butter (you can use any nut butter)
- 2 tbsp agave (substitutes; honey, maple syrup, golden syrup)
- Half a banana
Method
- Preheat your over to 150 degrees/gas mark 2
- In a food processor add; dates, peanut butter, 2 tbsp agave and half a banana. Blitz until you create a smooth consistency for your date syrup.
- Grab yourself a big bowl add the oats, nuts, date syrup and combine.
- As the mixture starts to come together, add a little more agave and the rest of the banana to bind, creating the granola clusters.
- Line a big baking tray with parchment paper.
- Grab a handful of the mixture and press together to form clusters and lay them onto the baking tray
- Once all the mixture has been transferred to the baking tray, place in the oven for 35 minutes.
- Halfway through, move the granola around turning any clusters over to brown the other sides.
- 5 minutes before the end, drizzle maple syrup over the granola and mix to transfer the syrup onto all of the granola.
- Place back in the oven for a further 5 minutes.
- Once the granola has been in the oven for 40 minutes, take the granola out and allow to cool before placing in airtight containers.
Please let me know if you try this recipe, i’d love to see your recreations of it.
