We started the day fully anticipating thunderstorms, waterproofs were on and we were ready for the storm ahead, but thank the lord there wasn’t a drop of train in sight! Imagine 19 miles, the longest day of the walk and the whole day it could have been major thunderstorms. I don’t know who blessed us on that day, but I’m glad they did.
This day you will truly feel like you’re in no mans land. Make sure you stop off where ever you can for drinks and snacks because there will be times where you are miles away from civilisation. There was a cute pub by a river, where we stopped of for a quick drink and i’m so glad we did, I need a quick pick me up.

I’ve mentioned a few times that the walk is full of ‘Sneaky Scottish Hills’ and this day did not miss out on them. The best way to describe them is rolling hills, they may look small and after you go up the hill you do come down the other side, but them small hills sneak up on you, so be aware.
Although this was a long 19 mile day, I had mentally prepared myself and that made the day easier. On this walk you can see for miles in front of you, and what you think may take you half an hour to walk in fact takes you two hours.

We did come across a few midges up one of the hills, but don’t worry we had our smidge nets out for protection and bug spray at the ready.
You will pass by Glencoe and here you will witness the skiing centre at the top of mountain to your left. People often stay here as there is accommodation, or they carry on to the Kinghouse Hotel. Unfortunately because of COVID, we were unable to book in the Kinghouse, but by the looks of it this is the place to stay after a 19 mile day!

When you arrive to the Kinghouse you will be able to see the raindeer, but be careful they weren’t the friendliest of creatures. They look cute, but one of them did bash their antlers into someone who got too close.
Recap of the day; you will feel like you’re in the middle of no where, surrounded by fields upon fields. Make sure you pack enough water and food for the day as there aren’t many places to stop off.
Thank you for reading this weeks blog. Make sure you head over to my Youtube Channel to see the video for Day 5, then you can see exactly what I mean about fields upon fields. See you in a weeks time for Part 6.
Always wandering,
